Dear Ohev Tzedek Congregants and Friends:
Ohev Tzedek will be hosting a Kabbalat Shabbat service on Friday, June 23, at 6 pm as part of the 2017 Partnership2gether Summit, celebrating Israel, creating meaningful person-to-person connections, and building a program that affects over 16 different communities. Join us for a quiet meet and greet with guests from around the world before the bustle of the weekend. An Oneg Shabbat (Sabbath celebration) will take place after the service; light refreshments will be served. Please RSVP as soon as possible if you plan to attend.
Saturday, June 24 (Torah Portion: Korach): No services will be held at Ohev Tzedek; we will instead be participating in a community service at El Emeth at 9:30 am.
As there will be no services at OT on the 24th, we will celebrate Simcha Shabbat on Friday, June 23, as part of the Kabbalat Shabbat service.
The June meeting of the women’s Rosh Chodesh group will be held at Phyllis Oresky’s house at 6 pm on Sunday, June 25. Please RSVP to Phyllis or to the Ohev Tzedek office by Thursday, June 22.
The annual congregational meeting will be held at 7 pm on Wednesday, June 28. A letter was sent out last week containing the agenda for the meeting. Please make every effort to attend.
The Amidah — Using Rabbi Lawrence Hoffman’s excellent volume in the My People’s Prayer Book series as a guide, we are exploring this core prayer to discuss tefilla, Jewish prayer, as a whole, and how Jews have ever understood our ongoing, evolving relationship with G-d. This class meets Monday nights at 7 pm.
Star Shlep: The Next Generation — Using Jewish science fiction/fantasy as the starship, we are exploring the farthest reaches of the galaxy of issues of Jewish identity, survival, and development. We are currently reading Snow in August by Pete Hamill. This class will continue to meet Thursday nights at 7.
