Shabbat Service
During service on Saturday, May 27, we will be dedicating the memorial plaques of Mollie Kessler and Meyer Shtamfater. A special Kiddush luncheon will follow, sponsored by the Kessler family, in their memory.

Organic Grow Class
The Grow Class has been rescheduled for Monday, May 29 at 11:30 am. Bring your seeds and stick around for the Memorial Day picnic immediately following!

Memorial Day Cookout
Join us at 1 pm at Ohev Tzedek on Monday, May 29, for a cookout with kosher hotdogs and hamburgers, vegan burgers, and all the fixings! The entire Jewish community is welcome! Please RSVP with payment and meat preference by May 24 ($10 if RSVP by 5/24 or $15 at the door). Harold Davis and Mindi Einzig will lead an open mic and join others who want to play that day, so bring musical instruments. If you’re less musically inclined, bring along a Frisbee! Carys Yarwood will also be performing a dance she choreographed herself.

Rabbi Saul and Phyllis will be hosting an “all-night” study session and dairy potluck at their house on Erev Shavuot (Tuesday, May 30, at 8 pm). Bring your favorite vegetarian/dairy dish to share! Please RSVP to the Ohev Tzedek office by 5/23If you wish to do a teaching, please let Rabbi know ASAP so he can coordinate study sessions.

Services, including Yizkor, will be held at 9:45 am on the second day of Shavuot, June 1.

Jewish Youngstown
A launch event for the new book, A History of Jewish Youngstown and the Steel Valley, co-authored by locals Tom Welsh, Joshua Foster, and Gordon F. Morgan Jr. in collaboration with the Mahoning Valley Historical Society, is scheduled for Sunday, June 4, at 10:30 am at Ohev Tzedek. The book is based on historical accounts, archival data, and interviews with members of the Jewish community in and around Youngstown. Tom will be presenting the book and will be available after for discussion and book signing. Please RSVP to the Ohev Tzedek office by Wednesday, May 31.

Kabbalat Shabbat
Let’s bring in summer with a Kabbalat Shabbat service and potluck at Boardman Park’s Chester Long Pavilionon Friday, June 16 at 6 pm. Bring your favorite vegetarian/dairy dish to share. Please RSVP to the office by Friday, June 9, to let us know what you will be bringing. We will meet rain or shine.

Rosh Chodesh
The monthly Rosh Chodesh women’s group and potluck will be meeting at Phyllis Oresky’s house at 6 pm on Sunday, June 25. The date and time for the May meeting are TBD. Please RSVP to the Ohev Tzedek office or to Phyllis by 6/22.

Annual Congregational Meeting
The 2017 Annual Congregational Meeting will be held at Ohev Tzedek on Wednesday, June 28, at 7:00 pm. At this meeting, we will hear year-end reports and discuss future plans. All members are urged to attend. Refreshments will be served after the meeting.
